FACIALS FAQ’S

How often should i get facials?

  • Once monthly facials are recommended to help aid in the cell turn over process which happens approximately every 30 days. As we age, this cell turn over process slows down, contributing to dull and sallow looking skin, fine lines, wrinkles, blackheads, congestion, and coarsely textured skin. Monthly facials assist your body in doing more efficiently what it is “supposed” to do on its own.

What can I expect during a facial treatment?

  • You will be asked to fill out a consultation form prior to your appointment. Most facials consist of a double cleanse with steam, exfoliation, extractions with a skin analysis, face and upper body massage, facial mask, and hydration. Depending on the facial and your skincare history, the exfoliation performed will vary. Different facial “add-ons” can be added to your treatment for an additional fee. All facials are uniquely customized to target your specific skin care needs. Please see the Menu for more information on these add-ons and specific facials offered.

Will my skin be red or irritated after getting facial?

  • Slight redness is normal after a facial, especially if you’ve received any sort of chemical exfoliant such as a Glycolic or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or received a large amount of extractions. Slight irritation may be experienced during these instances, however it should not continue after your facial treatment has been completed. Certain skin types, including those who tend to be more sensitive, may be prone to experiencing more redness post treatment.

Should I expect to experience break out after my facial service?

  • The short answer is no. The products we use are not irritating to the skin and should not cause breakout to surface. In fact, having a facial is recommended to speed the healing process and relieve the discomfort of current acne lesions.

What should I experience after facial?

  • You will leave your service feeling hydrated and relaxed and your skin will look healthy and glowing. If your appointment is later in the day we typically prepare your skin for night and no cleansing is necessary before bed. If your service is completed early in the day protection products will be applied and cleansing before bed will be recommended.

How can I maintain professional skin care results at home on a daily basis?

  • We offer a diverse selection of exceptional at-home skincare products for purchase. If you are unsure about which product is suitable for your skin, our expert esthetician can assist you in selecting the right product that addresses all your skincare needs.

Which facial is right for me?

  • Please view the Menu of Services to read a full description of all the facial and specialized add-on treatments available. If you are still unsure, completing a facial form before your treatment will allow your provider to select the most beneficial facial tailored to your specific skincare needs.

What is “SERIES” of facials and why is it recommended?

  • A series of facials is the best way to jumpstart your skincare maintenance, especially if you’re looking for positive results, fast! Facial series are generally offered in a series of six, performed at an interval determined by your skin care professional, and are most effective when performed using a chemical exfoliant such as a glycolic or a lactic acid. (The exfoliant used will be determined based on your skincare history.) With a series you purchase 5 facials and receive the 6th free. Please see the menu for more pricing information.

What product line do you use in your facial services?

  • The only lines that we use are Skin Script, Circadia, Hale & Hash and Face Reality. We love these brands due to their dedication to staying as natural as possible while still delivering results that are only possible to achieve when using high levels of active ingredients. All offer an incredible source for safe, effective skin care and use only food grade preservatives, no synthetic dyes and only the best cold-pressed essential oils for fragrance.

Should I have a facial before an important event?

  • Absolutely! Your skin will look healthy and glowing directly after your service.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

  • Of course! A deep cleansing service is always provided and will remove any dirt, oil or debris from your skin.

Should I avoid cosmetics after my facials?

  • No. If you have an event or just feel more comfortable wearing foundation, feel free to apply as normal. Just make sure to remove it at the end of the day!

Should I have a facial if I have sensitive skin?

  • Yes. There are many factors involved in sensitive skin and sometimes a facial service can help determine, through diagnosis, what you can do at home to both offer relief for your current state as well as prevent your condition from worsening.

Should I have a facial service if I’m pregnant?

  • Yes. Facials during pregnancy are especially important for many reasons. Your skin can be reflective of the hormonal changes occurring within your body and having regular services can help alleviate some of the symptoms (i.e. breakout, increased redness and sensitivity) when your usual products may be off-limits. Facials can also be a wonderful relaxation tool which can keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.

Can I receive a facial waxing such as an eyebrow or lip wax on the same day as my facial?

  • Yes! Waxing is always done first, prior to your facial, for the upmost comfort and safety of your skin. Any areas waxed will be carefully avoided during your facial exfoliation so as not to further irritate the skin.

Do men get facials too?

  • Absolutely! Facials are very beneficial for men and can help reduce skin sensitivity from shaving as well as other concerns from lack of proper at home skincare. If you do suffer from sensitivity after shaving, it is recommended that you do not shave immediately before your facial, as this can lead to further irritation.
